COVID-19 Funeral Procedures

Today and maybe clear up some of the misconceptions Concerning COVID-19 as it relates to funeral service today. You may have talked to a family member, or a friend, or maybe you’ve even talked to a funeral home that told you that they were not able to have a full funeral service for your loved one I would tell you that there is nothing further from the truth! The fact of the matter is that you can have whatever type of service that you like COVID-19 Funeral Procedures.

First let’s go to the COVID-19 Virus itself. There have been many contagious diseases in the past. There have been the AIDS epidemic, there have been Tuberculosis Hepatitis, even the Plague. We have handled every single one of them. We have 20 funeral COVID-19 Funeral Procedures director embalmers that are trained by the State of Texas to handle infectious diseases and never have one of them been infected when handling any one of these diseases, nor have any of our staff nor have any of our guests or families ever been infected by handling one of these cases.

This disease we will get through, just as we have gotten through every other disease that has come before it. What about the service? Why is it that you may have been told that you could not have a funeral service? Well, I think maybe I might know. I’m holding right here in my hand a letter from the Texas Funeral Service Commission. This letter outlines what is permissible and what is not permissible in funeral service.

This is the governing body that licenses and governs funeral homes in the State of Texas. This has the Governor’s Order from Greg Abbott GA-18. Executive Order GA-18. And it plainly says, and I have highlighted in yellow here: There is no limit to the number of guests that you can have at your funeral, visitation, or graveside service now since this order came out in recent weeks we have added to that face masks have to be worn. That’s true at any public building in the State of Texas. But there is no limit to the number of guests you can have.

The only thing this asks, is that you social distance. and we believe both of those things are reasonable and good practice that you social distance and wear a face mask and of course we adhere to it. Safety is our top priority when it comes to your family. Now, why were you possibly told by a family, or a friend, or even another funeral home that you couldn’t have a funeral? The probability is that the funeral home maybe that you talked to or a family or a friend talked to they spoke to a funeral home whose facility was too small to handle a funeral COVID-19 Funeral Procedures.

Most funeral homes chapels only hold 100 people or maybe 75 people. and if you have to social distance that’s about a two-thirds of your facility taken away and you have a 75-seat facility, well that means you can maybe have 25 people in there. So if you were told you might be limited to 10 or 15 people when you include the funeral home staff and that maybe you get 10 or 12 people.

Our lobby can hold 150 people most funeral homes lobby can’t even hold 15 people. Ours can hold 150 people, so there is plenty room for social distancing and that myth that has been going around that you cannot have a funeral it probably comes from funeral homes that can’t hold 20 people in their lobby in normal times. So let’s dispel that myth right now. Yes, you can have the funeral right now! You will see in the newspaper today people will say we will, we are putting off the funeral until a time in the future when things are safe.

Well, I will tell you that in this pandemic, yes it is dangerous right now. But we don’t know what tomorrow holds. In fact, it’s very possible that this pandemic will not end and if it ever does, it’s possible that another pandemic will follow it. What we do know is what we know today. And we know it’s safe. We know how to safely handle a funeral today! We know to how to keep your family safe today! Our facilities are safe today! If you have a need, If you have a COVID death today, we are the place that you want to come. Because we will not tell you that you have to put off your funeral until the future. Because who knows what tomorrow holds.

Time continues and so we must take care of our loved ones when the time comes we cannot put it off until tomorrow.
